Bernie Sanders to speak at Riverside City College on Thursday, Oct. 3 – Press Enterprise

Sen. Bernie Sanders will kick off a tour of Latinx-focused community colleges by speaking at Riverside City College on Thursday, Oct. 3, when he’ll also open a field office in downtown Riverside.

The public is invited to both Riverside events, which are free.

The opening of the field office at 4035-4037 Market St. is also a Latinx Heritage Month Celebration, according to a news release from Sanders’ campaign. It’s scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The campaign suggests reservations and encourages people to walk to the opening.

The town hall will start at noon in RCC’s Landis Performing Arts Center. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. and visitors are encouraged to RSVP, the campaign said.

Sanders, D-Vermont, will then visit Cal State Bakersfield and Fresno City College. On Friday, he plans to open a field office in Los Angeles and attend a candidate summit hosted by the Service Employers International Union.

The candidate rallied at Riverside Municipal Auditorium and other Inland Empire locations during the 2016 campaign, when Sen. Hillary Clinton also campaigned in the area.

Sanders reported Tuesday that he raised $25.3 million over the last three months, the largest quarterly sum a Democratic White House hopeful has posted this year

In California, a poll commissioned by KQED between Sept. 12 and 15 shows Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren with 25% and Sanders with 23%, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden with 18%.
